Having to physically do it, even if just mentally (...that sounds really weird, but you get the idea), is very different from just having to have the mental concentration to sit in a chair and click buttons. Moreso when your life is on the line. Actually grinding to level (as opposed to raising skills) wouldn't be boring at all.
