I don't think Tobi being Obito would be a boring outcome. Predictable and maybe cliche, yes, but not necessarily boring. I'm really liking the Tobi/Kakashi exchanges right now, which sound a lot like Tobi is speaking from Obito's viewpoint. So I would like it if Tobi's character turns out to be at least in-part Obito. Tobi should Edo Tensei Rin, just to really screw with Kakashi's head.
