Guess that's bad luck with timing for him, although if he (like I read on the summaries and because there is another series afterwards ) managed to survive I'd say that's enough for him (and Asuna ).

Spoiler for Kirito's future LN stats:

His Dual Wield was already deleted when he transferred to ALO in the first place, because such a skill didn't exist in ALO. Although ALO has a different combat system than SAO, so he can still effectively use a sword in each hand, it's just not assisted by the game systems in any way.

In terms of "resetting his stats" he went back to a level 1 character with no items or skills. Absolutely nothing was carried over, not even his appearance.
