My (quick) spectulations about the fire:
1: Nanaka's uncle and her father were fighting (physically) and knocked something over, probably a candle.
2: The uncle accidently killed Nanaka's father and to save his hide, he burned the house.
3: Nanaka was presently involved in an argument between her uncle and her father, she was probably the one that accidently caused something to make the house to burn down.
These are not well thought out, so please excuse it if any are impossible scenarios
