Yeah it does seem the anime is following quite closely to the manga. The anime now is already up to volumes 3-4 of the manga (can't remember exactly where).

As for Hayate's feelings,

As for Hayate's feelings, Spoiler for slight spoiler from manga: Up to the latest volume 11, Hayate's feelings are still on a tie between all the girls. But the feelings of the girls for him vary. There's still no end in sight, so I'm not sure how 52 episodes are going to tie things up. Very likely it'll be different from the manga.
