the grey-haired woman is Kyrie's sister, or at least a relative?

Also, I was wondering how episode 3 'transferred' onto episode 4, if that's understandable at all. At the end of episode 3, Battler was about to sign something and Ange interrupted, I thought. Was that happening in the meta world, and is Battler still in the meta world when episode 4 opens?

And, if that's the case, how does it get back to 'present-day' Rokkenjima again? Are Battler's memories just not reset?

Sorry again, and thanks to the people who are answering the questions. This episode is so confusing, it's difficult to garner much from general hints. orz
