Why would a pure spirit be unable to enjoy from romantic relationship?
Basically, we don't know enough of how spirits work to just say something would not work.
Not saying this is likely to happen, but it is one possible way to solve this issue (if the author even touches it) with already existing powers, and does not require any new authorities, spells or magic items.
