The only thing do people expect this to be the next long running shounen anime or just a long series that will have a stopping point? Even if it's a good series, I am not sure I want to get invested in something that doesn't have a set number of episodes.

It's already been decided that the anime will cover up until the end of it's first big arc. It's not going to be an ongoing long series.
