LOL You can ask that about any character in Fairy Tail. Apparently, in the Fairy Tail universe, mothers don't exist. The only mothers we know about died before the series even started (Lucy's mom Layla and Ultear's mom Ul).
The only elder female in the series is Porlyusica, and she is an old maid (well, technically, there is that old guild master for the all female guild). And no, Mavis does not count; she's too cute and loli.
Even the newly introduced Minerva of Sabertooth only has a father.
Well, ok, maybe Bisca, but she had a child halfway through the series. The author really has a thing against moms in this series.
