Spoiler for spoilers:
Well unfortunately some people called it. Yuki got offed, though not by the cyborg guy. Which makes sense really, because even before Kogami got his gun he was starting to get the upper hand. As soon as he got a dominator, it was a foregone conclusion IMHO, even with Kogami getting wounded. He took a page out from Metal Gear Solid there!
I do wonder what Makishima's motive in grabbing Yuki was though. It seemed rather opportunistic and not necessarily in line with his regular MO (Letting other crazed killers go on sprees). Did he feel a need to not let Kogami come out of the game ahead? He didn't seem to be particularly interested in Akane, and I'm not sure he expected to run into her there. Mind, I can't imagine him affording this option to one of the enforcers...I rather get the feeling that they'd have grabbed the shotgun and used it without much hesitation. So was this game for her? Or was he planning to use Yuki for some other game, to kill her for his own amusement?
Also, were the shots from that shotgun blanks? There didn't seem to be impacts behind them Not that Akane had much chance of hitting anyway, considering she was trying to fire it one handed.
And while Makishima seemed disappointed in Akane's hesitance to shoot him of her own will (Understandable, when you consider the entire idea behind the dominator is to take culpability out of the armed inspector from killing anyone. The idea you could be personally responsible for a kill is something that they're probably not trained for...they're training people to rely on a crutch in essence), I still wonder if he was really okay with letting Akane shoot him.
It doesn't seem like there was really much chance in saving Yuki.
