For the record, I love mussels. They taste good.
Crackpot theory time! Because I've expanded on my little theory.
Spoiler for Length:
So we all know love makes Aquarion crazy, because it apparently wants Apollo to be reunited with Silvia.
The fact that Fudo once specifically told Amata "love is forbidden" with Mikono could possibly hint that he is not Apollo.
If he was, Fudo would probably just lock them both in a room, get them to confess to each other, whoop out a Wings of the Sun powered Aquarion and start kicking ass. Which hasn't happened.
But we do know that Kagura is Apollo, and him and Mikono are apparently key to get the original Aquarion. So right now, Zen's probably keeping Amata and Mikono apart with the whole "No love" rule.
And of course, Zen's keeping Kagura away from Mikono right now for obvious reasons. However, Zen could be keeping Mikono single and available so that when the time is right, Apollo may reunite with Silvia, activate Solar Aquarion and kickass.
And then there's the fact that Amata has got no smell. For this I'm sticking to the theory that he's the reincarnated Wings of the Sun, and is there for Apollonius, who is Apollo by extension.
Also this is a long shot but, you know that time where Zessica was with Amata and Mikono during the whole electric armband thing? It wasn't just so the producers could slowly make a jelly subplot. Zen put her there because he wants to reunite Apollonius with Celliane.
That's my in-story reason.
My out of story reason?
Kawamouri is pushing for the Amata x Mikono couple hard.
A bit too hard. As I've said before, his love triangles tend to be very well balanced, with each love rival getting equal development. In evol, however, our 'love rival' just stands there for 10 seconds before brushing her feelings off.
It seems to me that Kawamouri is waving his arms about, screaming at us to look the other way so that his staff may sneak up on us to brain us with a pineapple.
Honestly, I simply would not have these suspicions if he gave both our heroines equal screen time.
