I disagree here. They very much collide with each other, even if you exclude the character design. As for the VA I wasn't expecting something like Luffy's VA, but something along the way, as in my imagination everytime I read the manga Luffy popped into my mind.
I'll probably get used to his VA in about 2-3 more episodes, but I still hate it atm.
