Spoiler for OniAi 01 - Tomokazu Seki as Interpreted by Eri Kitamura:
And so, with SKET DANCE finished, Keiichiro Kawaguchi's talents are freely available for other series. Like this one. He's usually really good with visual gags, so having him helm a dialogue-heavy comedy series like this one will be an interesting experiment. It's not Monogatari-level dialogue heavy (then again, very little is), but the degree of verbal wit being thrown around exceeded what I was expecting. The cinematography of the series is really nice - the opening montage with Akiko seeking out her destination was well done, and there's a lot of interesting musi choices on display here.
Akiko's a lot of fun to watch, and the rest of the student council, though getting minimal screentime compared to her, made a pretty good first impression. Arashi, doing Agata's "ka-ka-ka" laugh got my attention. It was probably in the source material, but I can't help but to draw the connection. Good composition can make even something seen before unique, and such is the case here. It further proves why Kawaguchi is my favorite director, and the idea of a dialogue-heavy series is appealing to the wordsmith in me.
The opening's got a really nice beat to it.
