So, I won't get my hopes up about anyone willing to help.
But yes, that is indeed a nice image, and I too hope for some... unobstructed views once the BD/DVDs are out.
I've also noticed that in the manga, there are several new faces that didn't make it to the anime, and some changes for others.
Spoiler for more characters in the manga?:
Namely that Ichika is a Catian, and she's a bit of a klutz. There also is some mystery mystic woman that Aoi scuffled with both during the train incident and during the sinking of Antonia's ship. Plus an older Catian that helped save Aoi during that time. No names for either that I could understand.
I'm also not sure if she's in the light novels of what, but Lawry wasn't in the manga that I saw, and I've seen quite a bit of it. And it seems that the dogisians aren't the only ones trying to keep the Catians from making relations with humans. There seems to be a seraph-like race of bird people also behind the scenes, possibly illustrating the Cat-Bird relationship. I'll probably edit this to include images for illustration, it's quite convoluted a situation.
But surprisingly, the anime seems relatively faithful to the manga with exception of the Manami, Aoi, and Eris's "Tenchi Solution" in the last episode. However, the manga chapters I saw only got up to about episode 10 or 11, where Kio was just in the process of building his ship, so what happens after that is unknown.

The anime version is more faithful to the light novel or manga ?
