This episode. Wow.
General
Pacing - Generally okay but some parts were awful. Prison escape scene especially.
Music - Awful music choices. Only one I liked was when the escaped prisoners began to die (Fake Red Shoes) but otherwise not very good selection. Underwhelming at best. And no Happy Maria! which is really awful.
VA's - Still the only redeeming quality of the anime
Art - Okay explain to me how they select what to censor.
Jessica's head being kicked off:
not censored
When she died during her phone call to Battler:
censored
Kanon's wound:
not censored
When we see it again:
censored
And how did Gaap's troll face turn from
this into
this. I mean really 8|
Otherwise the Golden Land area looks very nice.
Pros
-gapgapgapgapgapgapgap
-The phone calls to Battler were good. Jessica's provided the info it needed, Kyrie's was somewhat touching (although they should have changed the background music during that scene into something softer to assist the mood) and Beatrice used engrish
-Kinzo fireball attack looked pretty cool. They also kept Gaap being turned into ice.
Cons (and boy are there a lot of these)
-Cutting Goat-Kun and the entire "lol your computer broke" bit 8/ Looks like DEEN just wants to take the entire game as serious business and not even put in the hilarious bits like that.
-MAJOR consistency issues.
*Krauss got shot in the head, rather than actually having half his face blown off. Same for Nanjo.
*Kyrie got shot in the chest rather than shot in the head point blank.
*The location of the shooting. Kyrie and Krauss weren't killed until they got to the mansion, but in the anime Krauss doesn't even make it to the large gate of the Kuwadorian. Unless that's the mansion gate, but I don't recall the mansion having any sort of gateway myself.
*We don't see the Siestas firing their arrows at Kyrie and continuously missing.
*Beato didn't throw away her umbrella when talking with Battler about his sin.
*Suit Beato went back to the study rather than dress Beato.
-The anime's only chance at giving a decent explanation of Battler's family situation (since Kyrie only explained Asumu cutting in during episode 16) flopped. Battler mentioned something to do with leaving the family but that's it. Really a shame, because it also gives some insight on everything. I remembered being especially touched by the fact that Rudolf went on his knees and begged Battler to come home, which shows he is a caring dad and he wants to repent despite everything.
-Why the hell didn't Ange get thrown out of the parlor. Seriously, the entire reason Beato just forced her out was because Ange was trying to stop her. This time it looked like Ange was just watching and didn't give a damn that her brother was suffering or being denied out of existence. Even if she didn't know she just looked on as if nothing was going on.
-Why didn't Beato state in red that Asumu wasn't Battler's mother. Well not being able to say "I was born from Ushiromiya Asumu" does put the point across but even then. And why did Battler just vanish into butterflies - the entire reason he did vanish was because Beato used blue and he couldn't counter.
Overall:
Perhaps one of the worst episodes adaptation wise. Entertainment wise it lacked as well. I'll give it either a 4 or a 5, but I'll wait for subs this time. This episode was just...god awful.
