My memory is seriously blurry, but since no one else replied, i'll try to help.

In the original..

They find out Mamoru is still alive and living in Iscandar, where he decides to stay behind with Starsha. The Cosmo Reverse system and how it works isn't well explained. Yuki dies while locking the room to save it from a gas accident, but Okita passes out right after (the same away as in 2199) and somehow his soul brings her back.

That's the gist of it. They get back to Earth and we see the planet becoming blue again, just like in 2199.
