Well, he isn't exactly a strategist. He always surprises (in a lot of meanings), but the one that is the real strategist is another guy (Neshimbara).

No. After he made the contract to get that ability, he couldn't be sad anymore. If he feels sad, he will die. That's why his ablility is dangerous. It can be something that can change the flow of a war, but if he feels sad even once, he'll die and "everything" will be over. You know, they are always going to battles and all, so sometimes there are characters that die. But he can't feel sad anymore. This got a huge focus on the end of the third volume...

Yup. In the past he got badly hurt and because of that his physical abilities got to be a little lower than average. That's why he is supposed to be the "impossible" and got the title of Chancellor and President of the Student Council.

Her name is Honda Futayo and well, she'll be very important on the latter half of the first season of the anime. She is the daughter of Honda Tadakatsu and ends her sentences with "gozaru". She is one of the strongest characters in Musashi. I can say a lot more about her, but I think that I'll say too much spoilers .
