The level of technology is still increasing at an ever faster rate. Just look at the worldwide investments in R&D and the absolute number of scientists.

Some very visible areas like transportation have now reached a stage of refinement rather than leaps. The impact of information technology in the last two decades has been insane.

It's hard to predict where the next big jump in technology will be that will change our daily lives. Genetic engineering, nanotechnology, robotics, augmented reality, energy production, material science, who knows?
