My line of reasoning was that, if they kept the form similar for the first six episodes, and jumped into Airi from episode 7 onward, we'd have had to deal with much more Airi than anything else to really get everything to fit. Conversely, because of Miu's rather *light character* and background, you can push her forward while also spreading the screen time/development around a bit more (and naturally including Sana to a large degree), and all you're losing is fluff. In Airi's route you'd have to either cut into Airi's background (either running through it or omitting elements) or you have to cut the time alloted to other characters.

Airi's story had many developments , but it was not that long (Miu's was longer). The pacing of the anime compared to Miu's story in the VN is actually slower. But they did skip alot of minor things, while keeping the more important events. I think that some parts of Airi's story could have been cut a little and still would have fit in 5 episodes. Also they would have cut some of the hints/developments towards Miu and Sana if the anime intended to do Airi's story from the start, so pretty much we could count on 5,5 or 6 episodes and that should be sufficient
