Airi's story had many developments , but it was not that long (Miu's was longer). The pacing of the anime compared to Miu's story in the VN is actually slower. But they did skip alot of minor things, while keeping the more important events. I think that some parts of Airi's story could have been cut a little and still would have fit in 5 episodes. Also they would have cut some of the hints/developments towards Miu and Sana if the anime intended to do Airi's story from the start, so pretty much we could count on 5,5 or 6 episodes and that should be sufficient

Miu's is more fluffy, whereas Airi's is more development heavy. So while Miu's was longer (which, I'd question wasn't just a matter of fluff padding in that route's case), fitting the latter into a visual adaptation would probably be more of a challenge because cutting fluff vs. cutting/properly portraying development tends to be harder on the latter. Even for Miu they skipped through a lot to get it to fit into four/five episodes. But yes, I agree that in Airi's route you would not be able to focus much (if at all) on Sana/Miu to have the required time.
