Just came back from seeing it with friends. I could have really done without all the political references and messages Cameron tried so hard to show. I'll admit, it did bother me seeing them being shown all the time.
Having said that, the movie was a visual masterpiece, and I easily found myself liking most of the characters and their roles in the movie. I would see it again.
And as a sci-fi, District 9 is VASTLY superior to Avatar.
