Yeah I was a bit shocked when they actually showed that scene and laid the whole tech aspect of the SAO (Nerve Gear) -> AW (Neuro Linker) bare for the fans to see. But otherwise, I'd just wait and see if the author tries to make a canon connection between the two character wise.

Still I am surprised that they incorporated the Brain Implant Chip that Kirito was going to research in California into the whole Accel World universe and plot.

I actually meant to ask if that chip mentioned in AW ever popped up in SAO, although I was worried it might be a spoiler for later on. For AW light novel readers, is the chip mentioned by name in there as well? Because I guess this would make it canon in the books as well.
