I went out and bought volume 9 and 10 just to continue where I left off.
And I agree, the real ending is totally awesome, albeit a typical "good" ending.
Will buy the rest sometime in the near future.

I think you got lost because
Final happens after
Boy Meets Battle Girl and before
Period.
So you should read
Final, then
Period.
There's also an extra chapter after
Period which shows life after everything.
Freaking hilarious.
Especially near the end when someone is revealed.
