No, it's perfectly fine. You don't need personality death to solve ep1-4. Ever. Unless, of course, you're presupposing Shkanon, at which point you need personality death to get around reds of that nature which would otherwise potentially preclude it. But that's stupid and implies one should think the author is stupid. Why would you write yourself into a problem you need a bullshit rule-bending trick to get out of when you could just
not have Kanon there?
But that's another matter entirely.
