I'm not sure she is. She apologised to him on the grounds of their past lives the way she felt compelled to, but aside from that, it seems to me as if he's just been toting her about like a sack of potatoes. And that has been going on for far too long, so hopefully it won't last.

I'm almost wondering if they did it to try to foster audience sympathy with Toma. To the shadow angels, the humans were ants beneath their consideration, so he was shocked that Apollonius fell for one - but the audience, being human, wasn't thinking "eww, humans!". Whereas now we have Celiane's reincarnations falling for a guy who reincarnated from a shadow angel who took the form of a dog. And I don't think it's fair to go "eww, a dog!" when Apollo and Amata really are human, but maybe people taking that opinion should be understanding Toma better.
