Yeah, Russian rock band 'Mashina Vremenyj' (Time Machine) for example has a song called 'Blue Bird' where they sing

"We are the hunters after the happiness
But the blue bird is afraid of our selfishness
Too many were chasing-silly after her
And it does not trust human hands anymore

For a moment You think you have it
But then it lifts up
Waving with it's sky-blue wings
For a goodbye"

The blue-bird/happiness image is quite commonly used in many countries, not only in Japan.
