Personality
A touch energetic would be one word to describe her, troublemaker would be another. Keroko has a seemingly unquenchable thirst for challenges, be they simple discussions, games, puzzles or fighting. However, that is not to say she is a person who doesn’t have a good head on her shoulders. In fact, Keroko actually has quite a bit of technical insight, and can steer clear of the trouble she meets. In groups, she will generally assume a leadership-type position, and help guide the others when they don’t know what to do. She has shown to be quite familiar with the ways of the streets, a fact which endears her Kotarou and many of the male students. She speaks fluent English.
Keroko can quickly adapt to new situations, and easily goes with the flow. If a weird thing happens, Keroko will very likely be the very first to accept it and move on, like how she perfectly accepted Chamo talking to her about contracts with mages while they were being attacked by demons. Once she had accepted the fact that they were being attacked by demons, a talking ermine and a 9-year-old mage became perfectly logical. She has very little shame –if any- which helps greatly when you’re in the turbulent class of 3-A.
However, every person has a shadow side. Keroko can have a very volatile temper, and can react very snappy, even violently, if the wrong buttons are pushed. This might be because of her own insecurity due to her amnesia, regardless, if you look past the volatile girl, you’d see that she would go through hell and high water for her friends. Calling her a tsundere would probably not be all that wrong.
Part in the story
Keroko’s story starts during 3-A’s trip to Kyoto, shortly after suffering their first monkey-based attack, where the group encounters a confused and obviously lost girl. When attempting to help her, they discover that the girl, Keroko, is suffering from a near-total case of amnesia. The group decides to let the girl tag along, shortly before suffering another monkey assault. This time, however, a demon or two were included into the mix. In the resulting chaos, Chamo approaches Negi and Keroko on a pactio. While Negi disagrees, Chamo points to the battle, Keroko agrees to help and forms a pactio with Negi. After the battle, the group realizes they need an excuse for Keroko to tag along, and fabricate an excuse of Keroko being a transfer student who arrived late, Keroko is now an unofficial member of class 3-A.
During Konoka’s capture, Keroko assisted Asuna and Setsuna in fighting the hordes of demons, displaying a ferocity in combat that leaves some of the demons envious. Keroko opts to stay behind and help Mana and Ku rather then join Negi, as she was “having the time of her lives” as she put it (she graciously accepts the Demons offer to have a drink when they vanish).
Fast forwarding, we arrive at the Mahorafest, or more particularly, the tournament. Smelling the challenge miles away, Keroko was one of the first to sign up and join the tournament. When it begins, she finds out that her opponent is not going to let her win that easily. Albeiro Imma, there known as Ku:nel Sanders proved to be quite a tough adversary, especially since her artefact (a sword) was not allowed. However, what should have been a one-second win for Al turned into a battle of advantages for Keroko. The rush of battle triggered some of her forgotten memories, recovering her knowledge of the Belkan magic style. This style, who’s focus lies on close-range combat, proved to be a tougher cookie then Western magic, and Keroko began fighting with a fervour that –for a moment- pushed Al back.
However, with the knowledge of the Belkan style also returned her honed combat instinct. Al tricked the girl by attacking from behind with an attack that, for a small moment, radiated an intent to kill. The girls instincts screamed at her and she drew her artefact and struck back to avoid the attack. Al’s course changed, and instead he simply dispelled the winds that shielded her blade from sight and dodged the attack. A moment of silence reigned before Keroko realized she had been tricked, and was now out of the tournament.
As Chao moved her plans into motion, Keroko found herself acting as one of the hero units, keeping the flow of androids in check and leading the students wherever she could. She proved somewhat of an iconic leader, too. And having had the time to properly remember her memories of the Belkan style, she had recovered nearly all of her memories in the process, making her a tougher opponent then ever.
Still, in the end it was Negi who saved the day by defeating Chao. As Chao departed, and said her goodbye’s to everyone, her message to Keroko came in the form of a red jewel she tossed at her, and the words “Too bad you couldn’t catch me, sergeant” This comment would confuse everyone until the formation of the then still “Negima” club.
As it turns out, Keroko’s true story starts before she has even met any of the people of Mahora. Few know this, but Keroko is actually an officer in service of the Time Space Administration Bureau (TSAB for short) which patrols the many dimensions safeguarding its borders. The earth is currently labelled as an unadministered world, meaning that except for dire circumstances, the TSAB cannot interfere with the matters of the world. However, as the TSAB culture itself is very reliant on magic, they have taken a keen interest in earth, which itself also holds a small amount of mages. Keroko was send on an undercover mission to discover more on the specific comings and goings of the mages living on earth.
However, shortly after arriving on earth, Keroko had an unfortunate accident which caused her to lose her memory. She tripped and hit her head on a rock.
Her head survived, the rock didn’t.
Still, the shock was enough to cause a near-total amnesia, which only came back sporadically. The red gem Chao had given her was one of the reasons the TSAB existed, a Relic from an ancient world, a “Lost Logia” when inquired as to what it does, Keroko admits to not really being sure, Eva provides advice, theorizing that an artefact like that would most likely be a booster of sorts. Later on Keroko decides to test Eva’s theory and tries to use the Relic, which ended up fusing with her. The gem empowered her abilities further, driving Eva to give it a ‘test run’ resulting in a massive battle.
Right now, everyone is making final preparations before leaving towards the Mundus Magicus. Who knows what awaits them there?
Abillities- Pactio: Certus Victoria: Keroko’s Pactio artefact, a sword shielded from vision by a barrier of wind surrounding it. Apart from rendering the sword virtually invisible, and thereby making it difficult for opponents to gauge its range, the winds whirring around the blade also enhance the swords slicing power. It is possible to release the winds as a single projectile weapon, but the damage of this attack is constant, and putting more mana into it has no effect. When expelled or dispelled, the barrier can be refreshed by a simple wind spell, which the sword then picks up and converts into the barrier.
- Belkan magic: A magic style not native to earth, Belkan magic hails from a fallen empire that stretched several dimensions in the past. Belkan magic is extremely powerful in close combat, its users specializing in enhancing melee weaponry and strikes. Belkan magic enhances the body in various ways, ranging from enhanced physical defence, enhanced physical offence, providing flight, resistances and so on, making its description more accurate to the usage of Kankaho rather then any other form of magic.
- Defence: Keroko’s defensive abilities have been noted to be powerful. Ridiculously powerful, even. The source for this outstanding defensive ability is not known, but it has been noted that her defensive abilities are abnormal even for a user of the Belkan style.
