Sorry, no faction is that coordinated to completely abandon a character for another for one in all out mode. There will always be votes for the other character...even if it is only 30 votes, that's enough that Yuki and Haruhi would lose.
It was just a poor showing of Haruhi fans...or that the various IPs that are blocked are the people that aren't anal retentive about the difference between Haruhi and Haruhi-chan to care which is which and simply vote for Haruhi or Yuki because they are Haruhi or Yuki.
On the other hand the Koreans are just about as anal about it, but they put them all in the contest (So there were three Yuki's (Yuki, Yuki-chan, and waitress Yuki), and Minorin's cameo in Lucky Star)
