Well, she have to live away from family and have to be in debt (and do chores/errand ) at her relatives' house. Quite a draw back with a person of her personality
But then she have Ryuuji (Taiga a bit too
) to keep her company, so it's a good trade off
However i think Stormy means more of "involving in school" as it will be hard to image Ami being in such events at her old school (with her "air-head mode") as much as she does now
PS: on second thought, Ami's family maybe as rich or even richer than Taiga's. Her holiday "mansion" with "almost private" beach must cost a lots to own (they rarely use also) 0_0
