Well I suppose I guess all these anime he mained in, I wasn't interested in it, I probably missed it. And since I don't know anything about Japan, I have no clue how popular or well-regarded he is compared to other seiyuu. I mean he's quite popular but I still feel that Hiroshi Kamiya, Jun Fukuyama or Tomokazu Sugita seem more active or at least in the western fandom are more acknowledged. Or maybe it's just because of anime they mained in like Code Geass or Gintama got too popular.
I'm sorry but MAL ranking means nothing much to me. And ok I guess most anime he mained in are for certain demographics, that's why I really had no idea. I think what I mean is he need a role that relates universally. Most of his roles doesn't really bring the full potential because they are mostly stoic characters. At least now I know why he is regarded very popular.
