I'm actually thinking you might be onto something actually (Well, not with her enjoying the resets). The way she insists on paying for the mask herself after Kyon offers every time, and also how every time Haruhi notices and asks about the masks, I'm thinking in one of the past instances he did buy it for her and this lead to some kind of trouble with Haruhi.
