I was hesitant to try Nana at first, because I thought it would feel too 'chick-flick', in your words. However the director for this is experienced in handling seinen anime, so Nana didn't give any such vibes at all.

In fact, I really love Nana right now...the character, and the show. She's well-animated for her character design, and the production values (CG included) are superb. It feels fast-paced, and definitely much better than Parakiss.
