Waver is attending wizard school. He is not as good as he think he is but he is competent.
Kariya is member of the Matou which is one of the 3 founding mage family involve in the grail war. He didn't have enough magic circuits but zouken increase that with the worms which will kill him in a month.
Ryuunosuke is the only one without ties to magic before the grail war.
