Y'know, I've been sitting on these ideas for fanfics for a while and since we don't have a fanfic thread, I'll post them up here until a mod feels 'creative'.
I guess I haven't written one for Fairy Tail yet because I didn't want mine to be another 're-write' of what was already there to suit what I wanted to happen. And if one didn't know, I'm all about that NatsuxErza. Sue me, I know she's suppose to end up with Jellal, couple-wise, but hey, I can't stand the sight of the guy so what am I to do? While pondering this dilemma I came up with a few ideas, most of them are AU-oriented too.
Spoiler for Idea 1:
She could barely move. Every muscle in her body ached, covered with dirt and scratches. She was sure that her beautiful scarlet hair was singed in a few places thanks to her foe's flame breath. Her foe...
"*Come Human. Surely This Is Not The Extent Of Your Power?*"
She gritted her teeth, using her sword to push herself up onto a knee, her eyes glaring defiantly at the dragon before her. "N-not even...close," she spat, willing herself not to wince from the simple action. Damn it, that thing's tail must have broken a few of her ribs...
"*...Good, Good. For A Human, You Are Marvelous.*"
Was the thing praising her? She didn't know if she should be honored or sickened.
"*Do Not Fret, Child,*" The dragon lowered it's head closer to her, its large eyes blinking as they regarded her. "*My Intention Was Merely To Test You, Not To Kill You.*"
The relief she felt at its words also made her feel shame. To feel relief at being at the mercy of your opponent? It was childish but nethertheless, she felt it. "...so...why...?"
It raised its majestic head high, looking over the scene of their recent battle. "*I Must Leave Something To Your Care Human. No Ordinary Human Would Nor Could Handle This Task I Now Place Upon You.*"
Erza shook her head. "I came here....to destroy the menace that has terrorized this region for the past few months... not to help... you."
"*I Know. If You Accept My Burden, I Shall Allow Myself To Fall To Your Blade.*"
Erza stared up at the creature dumbfounded. "...you'll...what...?"

Summary: After encountering a dragon, Erza strikes a bargain with the creature and becomes the surrogate mother to its child. Little did she realize what sort of destiny is in store for the both of them.
Yes, I've made Natsu an actual dragon. :P Something along the lines of every 'Dragon riding' story you've come across but with the Fairy Tail Flavor.
Spoiler for idea 2:
There it was again...! That music! Placing her instrument down, she stood up quickly, her ears picking out the notes, trying to discern their origin.
"...A saxophone..." Leaving her instrument down by her bag, she tore out of the music room, much to Erza's and Levy's consternation. Running up three flights of stairs proved nothing to her, not when she was so close to finding out the source of the music that had elluded her for these past few weeks. **I WILL find out where that music is coming from** she promised herself as she reached the top floor. There was only a few rooms on this floor and yet, she still couldn't pinpoint the source.
"...they are not playing from these rooms..." Her sharp eyes saw the doorway leading to the roof was not closed when it should be and she gave a satsified smile. "On the roof, eh?" With that, she quickly ascended the last flight of stairs to the roof. The notes became clearer and clearer as she approached the roof and she reached her hand out to the door and pushed it open.
What she saw, changed her perception of the young man whom she beheld forever...

The entire gang is in a music college and of course, Natsu is the new kid on the block. While most of the students play classical, Natsu plays jazz and rock, and not just on one but several instruments. He constantly butts heads with the up-tight teachers, who condone his playing style as being 'too wild'. However, like always, people are fascinated by the new and exciting and Lucy, also a freshman, is drawn to Natsu's freestyle playing.
In this one, I was going to have a bit more fun with since its basically Natsu tearing it up music-wise. Basically shifting his love of battle into a love for music but a bit more on the wilder side. That and he and Erza already know each other from when they were younger and she's pretty much the only one aside from Gray who can keep up with his playing style.
