Very nice discussion thread ^_^ Pardon me, I only read the last two pages but they were definitely worth it. My post will contain strange, messed-up thoughts and I'm new to AS, so if there is any mouth I accidentally put my foot in, please let me know.
Spoiler for Episode 3:
Episode 3 left me really impressed, I had the feeling it was a bit longer than the previous episodes, but it started right off and the suspense was great. Allthough I'm going to compare it in this post to Higurashi for a few reasons, I have to say it's really something different and up to this point, (equivalent in Higurashi would be Tatarigoroshi-hen) I think it's really awesome in it's own way, if not even better (Had always a thing for closed room murders since I started to read detective novels *coughs*).
@Jan-Poo
Even back in Episode 2 I think, "people" was often used as description for witches, humans as well for furniture. I think that's a quite neutral description which refers to any being with 'human presence'. But the main point of your argumentation was to point out that "Beatricevas perfect red web of truth" wasn't that perfect. As I read the sentence "No other factors then humans participated in the gameboard" ingame, I thought she builds her own cage now.
@ClockWorkAngel
It's most likely important that these three people aren't stated as dead before Nanjo's death. Thanks for pointing it out, however, I somehow don't think one of the three was the culprit. Maybe they took part in a way they wanted to or were accidentally caught in. But that's just based on intuition.
"The Red Truth".. so what? Most argumentations are based on it, it's basically Ryuukishi screaming "I want you to base your deductions on it", however, there is no certain proof that we can take it for granted. What if it's the other way around, that what's stated red is definitely a lie? Well, that wouldn't be likely, it probably would even have low chance of being that way if Nanjo is part of the plot. Maybe the red truth is also the only thing in the games, that can be taken granted. Like, if Beatrice can't say in red she is Beatrice and actually the one that is drawn in the picture, the golden witch etc, she isn't.
Well here goes the Higurashi comparison: random gets L3, goes insane and kills. Umineko(?): Random finds the gold, goes insane and kills. Concerning who is alive at the end of each episode and carrying a gun around that would be Episode 1 Natsuhi, Episode 2 Rosa, Episode 3 Eva (first time actually quite confirmed).. well, whose wife is left.. Episode 4, Kyrie? The Episode is sure featuring more Ange, and since everytime past/feelings/secrets of the persons I mentioned were shown.. of course, it's only a litte digression in more variations, and since Virgilia (her existence might be questionable as well, though) appeared we cannot 100% say that some second witch identity or even complete new characters are appearing out of nowhere..
This isn't based on facts, but I'm suspicious of Battler. Somehow I think the beta.. meta world Battler and Rokkenjima Battler are different Battlers. Well not exactly different but different mental. The characters seem to be similar, we even read much in Battlers point of view (Magical persons and it's furniture haven't appeared right in front of Rokkenjima Battlers eyes by now, have they?) everything seems to be allright.. Maybe not the master culprit but I believe there is something about him we don't know yet and is turning the story over in one go.
.. Mii ~.
