Well, that's because the "new games" were solely FAN SERVICE, so the stuff you've been hearing about the games being terrible.... are mostly aimed at this.
They had taken one of the best fighting games I'd played... and turned it into.... that. Looking at the gameplay and such for the 3DS game just makes me more pumped to pick it up. So happy they went back to fighting~
