I've noticed some complaints on other review sites about Tsurune being the same old thing Kyoani always does (dramatic slice of life story beautifully animated) and wish they would diversify into other themes like most anime studios instead of limiting their creativity to a single genre.

That said, I understand this is all part of Kyoani's business and branding strategy; by being an inhouse studio that mostly adapts its own IP light novels, they can freely dictate their artistic direction without being at the mercy of an external production committee; and they can focus on specializing in a specific and recognizable animation style of which they have a dedicate fanbase.

My question is, does anyone think overall that Kyoani's approach is a good or bad thing?
Thoughts?
