Since a Dagger is sturdy, that means metal shell, if metal shell explode it'll throw sharp pieces everywhere... which is useless against I.S. barrier., and considering it's a knife, even hypersonic fragment (which is unlikely, due to geometry) might only crack the weakest barrier.
Squall possess similar weapon and they're at best used as distraction.
