For my part, I'd place my bets on Vivid Red requiring the involvement of Rei for sure. I base this mostly on the way the characters are presented in the promos and in the OP -- I think there will be some serious "befriending" going on in this show. Whether it's just Akane and Rei, or whether it's all five... who knows, but I'd say that the narrative will revolve around Akane and Rei's developing friendship (precisely because she's apparently starting as something of an enemy).
