Spoiler for volumes 1:

punching, kicking and destroying public property near the end of the first novel then I guess where that misconception comes from. The thing is though he did it on the spur of the moment when he realised that Taiga will no longer come over anymore.

Other then that if you read volume 2 where they try to catch Ami's stalker. Ryuji even admitted that he wasn't that good at fighting and his docile actions made me quite frustrated actually.

He's so docile to the point of being a little wimpy.
