A very good point there JustAnotherFan. I was going to say that earlier but the combination of pretty pictures and slow forum response didn't help.

All my shots seen so far have been taken using a Fuji S602 Digital. 6MPix, 6x optical zoom. Aperture and exposure can be manually controlled (as can focus) to quite a large degree. A very nice peice of equipment and I'm quite happy with it. Works much better when used with a stand of course (unless it was the last picture - which would be silly )

Most lower end digital cameras do a reasonably good job at working out the best settings for an exposure. However, there are plenty of situations where they're not quite up to the job. The ability to manually control everything does complicate things, but it allows you to produce more interesting effects. In my case, the extended exposure and sensitivity of the S602 allow me to take night sky shots, even without extra equipment but shots of the sky in the daytime also benifit.
