Suzaku knows that the live geass kicks in as soon as he is about to die though, as soon as he realised the end was near he should have threw fleija as far away as possible to remove the possibilty of him using it when his geass goes into action.
Him holding onto to it until the end was not big or brave , it was completely retarded, he should have been able to figure out what would've happened as soon as he started to get his ass handed to him by kallen.
