Same here. Plus how can Houtarou explain everything without ruining Satoshi's image to Chitanda anyway? He can't tell the story to "justify" Satoshi's behavior. In this case, just like Chitada put it, lets just "believe in Oreki".
I love how Chitanda practically confesses to Oreki that she considers him as someone truly close to her. She doesnt want him to misunderstand her not giving him chocolate as her not being interested in him. Of course, Oreki, smart as he is, completely not get it.
