Spoiler for The fact about blade gripping technique:
Spoiler for WARNING: A slight Declassified info:
Speaking of the blade catching technique in ninjutsu, this "myth" actually do exist, and is real. It can really block a blade.
However, what Mythbusters did in that technique was inaccurate and discrepant, which their conclusion made had contradicted the proper method (which their method made was turned out went wrong). The real effective move to grip the blade is to "lock" both of the palms below first, instead of the fingers first (lower part of the palms instead of the upper part of the palms). Cause if close (as if it's clap) the fingers first, the blade will slipped the fingers and even the hands, you're a dead man. If "lock" both palms tightly, it will provide enough strength and pressure to grip the blade before it could reach onto the head, which prevent it from slipping.
Since I've been into ninjutsu, I know it better. And the Mythbusters were wrong about ninjutsu, since many of the "real", proper techniques were totally classified.
