With good reason. It would seriously slow down the story if every single relative of every single character was introduced. Konohamaru is a minor character whose only role in the story is comic relief, his past doesn't need to be explored in depth unless his role in the story becomes more imporant.
I'd guess that Asuma is his uncle because they've never interacted on any level, not even when the 3rd died. We've never saw the Asuma and the 3rd talk either but that could be because of a dispute in the past, however I can't imagine Asuma being so distant from his own son.
