I'm echoing the sentiment that, while I do see some rather obvious flags in episode 4, it might be more adequate or maybe even appropriate that whatever price Sayaka does end up paying for her choice as to become an MG, it might not be a price paid for by her life.
On the terms of equivalent exchange, Mami was given a second chance at life, and in the end paid the price by actually dying. When I thought about this, perhaps life isn't the exact end-all ransom at the eventual end of an MGs career. Sayaka's wish was to restore his hand, and the price she must pay for it in the end will be something at least on equal terms with it. Speculating, perhaps she would lose the function of one of her own appendages as a result, not the same hand but maybe even a leg or an entire arm.
On second thought this is rather intriguing. I think I'll extrapolate on this and bring it to the speculation thread.
