The fireworks might just be CG. Everything else is beautiful 2D animation, though. Speaking of the ending, people who liked it should check out the Naruto Shippuden ED #20. It's done by
the same animator who did the Shin Sekai Yori ending, in a very similar style.
About the music of the series, I think it's unfortunately one of its weak points. The main theme is fantastic, but most of the other tracks are terribly generic. The combat/action tracks are particularly tedious.
