I think it has something to do with the way Shu objected to the plans. When he voiced his objections, he did it in such a threatening/annoying tone that it felt like he was saying "I'm running away" rather than "I object to this". It's kind of like a pacifist who says he won't fight somebody, but says it in tone that sounds like he's egging the person on. One blogger I follow also hated the fact that Shu never did this to Inori, the one person who he should be objecting to. The only saving grace is that Shu pays for his actions. Unlike most people, I think the punch (temporarily) knocked out all dislikability.

Edit: Oh, by the way, I never got this part of the episode, but what exactly caused all the power to disappear in Tokyo? How does anything happening to the satellite affect power in any way?
