Fap..Fap...It would be a great achievement, allowing humanity to kill itself 43.59% more efficiently! Seriously though, it would be cool having a mass drivers like that on earth and on the moon, though not for military use (which it inevitably would be in the case of war). It's probably easier than building a space elevator...though much grander in scale. Me think's that if the cargo was non-living, we could get away with a 1km or less long driver, probably in a mountain somewhere, trailing underground obviously.
