The initial idea was that the core gets overdrained during increase of shield density. When there's no need anymore, the drain would subside and stable flow will reoccur. But that would make it too similar to Byakushiki and only the application of draining energy would be in a defense so strong it turns into an offensive weapon.
This means relatively short operational time but the system was made best for hit and runs as well as meelee engagements. Honestly it isn't fit for usage with energy weapons. Physical weapons are more its niche.
